Regrettably, bad things happen to innocent children. Fortunately, they don't have to affect them forever. Wellspring offers a unique trauma-resolution therapy for youth through its Bounce! Programs. These life-changing interventions help youth who suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms from having experienced a traumatic life event such as:

  • Physical/sexual abuse
  • Sudden death or loss of loved one
  • Serious illness or injury
  • Witnessing/experience violence
  • At-risk youth are individually selected and referred by partner organizations to participate.

The goal of Bounce! is to relieve and prevent emotional suffering, and to the promote “post-traumatic growth” of traumatized children and their families.

The Bounce! Intensive Program is offered by professional therapists with trauma expertise at a Wellspring Counseling site. The program includes:

  • Trauma education
  • Emotional support
  • Individual and group trauma-specific therapy
  • Art and equine assisted therapy
  • Expressive, experiential, and creative learning opportunities
  • Parent engagement
  • All in a fun, positive, and memorable experience!

The Ready to Bounce! program is a 10-week small group offered on partner sites for at-risk youth. This program provides trauma and grief education and teaches resilience skills through experiential learning.

Summer BOUNCE! Intensive

Bounce! Trauma Resolution Program Success
Our beloved Bounce! Therapeutic Program was a success this year. In faith, we opened a second one-week intensive session that allowed for additional children to “bounce back” from traumatic events in their lives. The program ran July 14-18 and July 24- 28, 2017. By focusing on helping youth deal with what is often un-processed trauma, we once again committed to restoring hearts and minds throughout our community. During these two weeks staff, donors, and volunteers worked together to bring people and community resources together to address the pressing issue of trauma.
Join us in celebrating the success of Bounce! as we recap how these results and changes have benefits that ripple out to the community as a whole, and strengthen our youth for generations to come.
Your contribution touches the lives of so many by focusing on helping traumatized youth create the building blocks for a healthy life. Together, we can help children and families throughout Miami-Dade achieve their full potential and lead healthy, productive lives.

The 2017 program was amazing! Please check back in for updates on results and plans for Bounce 2018.
The value of therapeutic services provided in this program is over $2500. Thanks to volunteers and donations, it costs Wellspring $1150 per student to provide this program. We try to help make this program affordable to all who need it. Insurance may be billed for some of the costs, and payment plans and financial aid are available for those who qualify.

Pre and post assessments for the 5 years of Bounce! programs have shown a 25%-37% reduction in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms for the participating youth.

“My life now has gotten much better [since Bounce!]. I don’t cry as much as I used to.” - Bounce! Camper, age 13

“Bounce helped me realize that I’m not the only one who has been through bad things. This made it easier to talk about what happened to me. The camp was fun and everyone there was so nice. The counselors told us that they did not expect us to feel 100% better at the end of the week, that the goal was to feel a little bit better about the bad things that happened, but I think they helped me more than they expected.” - Bounce! Camper, age 10
