Why Give?
Mental health matters! Suicide rates have risen and over 20% of Americans face depression in a given year (Center for Disease Control, 2017). Forty percent of youth have insecure attachments with their parents (The Sutton Trust, 2014). We worry about violence in our communities, and broken relationships, anxiety or addiction affect those we know.
Mental health loses money as an industry. The costs of doing business for mental health is similar to other health care specialties, but a mental health therapist spends approximately three times the amount of time with a patient for less than half the financial reimbursement. Even large, renowned local hospitals have made a conscious decision not to pursue a robust mental health program.
Wellspring fills a gap. Wellspring has become one of the few solutions available to our community as a whole, and certainly to Christians specifically. We fill a unique niche by providing both counseling and education across Miami-Dade County, serving individuals in our community, our partners churches, and by providing truly unique programs such as our immensely successful Bounce Trauma Resolution Camps for teens.
